A Christ-centred home and school of love, hope, & healing for men with addiction.

Founded in 1992, Luke 15 House is a non-profit B.C. Christian Charity that provides holistic support for men recovering from addiction, by meeting social, mental, emotional, physical, environmental and spiritual needs.

Why We Exist

21% or 6 million Canadians meet the criteria for substance abuse addiction.  The destruction to the economic, social and moral fabric of our society, if not addressed, is perpetuated from generation to generation.  Often the stigma attached to addiction and mental health prevents individuals from seeking help that they so desperately need.

Often, addiction begins with a very wounded child. Most of our residents have been abandoned as children by their parents. Some have been emotionally , physically, and sexually abused.  Many have been raised in multiple foster homes, while others have been neglected and unloved most of their lives. This pain, lack of family structure, and poor choices lead these men to the streets to find refuge in drug-addiction, alcoholism and crime. They become broken, desperate, hopeless, and homeless. We are here to bring them home and restore their lives.

For kids on the street at age 14 to 24, there is Covenant House, but this door closes at 25. That is where Luke 15 steps in. We are here to bring adult men home and restore their lives at any age.

The cry for addiction services has never been more desperate. From 2016 to 2023, Canada lost 40,642 individuals to substance overdose, with 2023 reporting a 5% increase over 2022. 89% of those deaths ocurred in BC, Alberta, and Ontario, with men accounting for over 70% of deaths. Luke 15 House continues to respond by offering a safe place for male addicts to recover, but we do not have enough capacity to meet the needs at hand. A shortage of beds persists.

Our Financial Needs

We are registered and approved as a Support Recovery House by two government agencies: the Assisted Living Registry and Ministry of Social Development and Poverty Reduction. We comply with the guidelines of the Ministry of Mental Health & Addictions and the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General.

While we receive monthly government revenue in the form of Per Diem Service Fees for each resident, there is no Funding available from either ministries. We rely on donations, both to run our day to day operations, and to build capital for future capacity expansion. Every year, we face costly repairs and maintenance of a 70+ year old house, and every day, we turn 8 to 10 deserving men away due to lack of beds. Please consider supporting the operations or the capital campaign of Luke 15 House.
